Fifty young unemployed Nigerians have successfully completed a four-week intensive digital skills bootcamp under the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative gaining hands-on training in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and IT Essentials.
The transformative programme, a collaborative effort between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Cisco, was held at NITDA’s South West Zonal Office, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on behalf of NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, the Head of the South West Zonal Office, Mrs. Chioma Okee-Agugwo, described the initiative as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s digital future.
“This is not just a closing ceremony. It is the launchpad for new journeys—anchored in digital knowledge and powered by innovation,” she remarked.
According to Inuwa, the initiative is firmly aligned with NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), which prioritizes Digital Literacy, Emerging Technologies, and Youth Empowerment. It also reflects the aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at accelerating economic diversification through digitisation, innovation, and skills development.
He added that DL4ALL is a key component of Nigeria’s commitment to digital inclusion, supporting the national goal of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027, championed by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
“Our youth are no longer just consumers of technology. They are creators, innovators, and future employers,” Inuwa stated.
Throughout the bootcamp, participants were exposed to a variety of hands-on learning experiences designed to enhance both technical proficiency and digital leadership. Inuwa noted that NITDA’s zonal strategy is bringing innovation closer to grassroots communities as part of efforts to democratize access to technology.
“This is only the beginning,” he said. “We must continue investing in partnerships, people, and platforms that drive digital inclusion.”
He commended Cisco for its high-impact training delivery and urged stakeholders to sustain collaborative efforts that unlock Nigeria’s digital potential.
Participants capped off the programme with project presentations showcasing the integration of skills acquired during the bootcamp. Many of them expressed gratitude for the opportunity, highlighting how the training broadened their horizons and ignited aspirations to become job creators and digital solution providers within their communities.
