In a strategic move to reduce youth unemployment and promote self-reliance, the former Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Dr. Kashim Akor, has facilitated the training of 100 indigenes of Ankpa Local Government Area in vocational and small-scale enterprise development.
The empowerment programme, which held between Wednesday and Friday, was organized by the Federal Cooperative College, Orji River, Anambra State, as part of a broader initiative targeting beneficiaries across the six states of the North-Central geopolitical zone Kogi, Niger, Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, and the FCT.
The training, which took place in Ankpa, Kogi State, was implemented in partnership with Laminate International Services Limited, a consultancy firm that provided practical and intensive sessions on vocational skills and small business management.
At the end of the three-day programme, each participant received a N100,000 starter pack to launch their respective businesses are an intervention many described as timely and impactful.
Dr. Akor, a recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), said the programme aligns with his vision to empower rural communities through sustainable entrepreneurship and productivity initiatives.
The event attracted stakeholders from across the zone, including youth leaders, traditional rulers, and development experts, who lauded Dr. Akor’s continued commitment to grassroots empowerment and national development.
