The First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to regional stability, economic integration, and democratic governance in West Africa.
Senator Barau gave the commendation during the opening ceremony of the 2025 First Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament held in Lagos on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Senator Barau described President Tinubu, who also serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, as a beacon of inspiration whose leadership has fostered greater cooperation and solidarity among member states.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau highlighted President Tinubu’s strategic vision and dedication to advancing regional integration, adding that his leadership has significantly boosted confidence in the collective aspirations of West African nations.
“His leadership has paved the way for a more prosperous and resilient West Africa. The ECOWAS Parliament remains deeply grateful for his continued support and guidance,” he said.
Senator Barau also appreciated the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for hosting the parliamentary session, commending the state’s hospitality and support for regional cooperation.
He reaffirmed the parliament’s commitment to promoting unity, cooperation, and development among ECOWAS member states, urging stakeholders to work collectively toward achieving the region’s shared goals.
The week-long session is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the subregion, including security, economic integration, and democratic governance.
