Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has received a popular Kannywood singer, Ali Isa Jita, from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ali Jita announced his defection to the APC when he paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy President of the Senate at his residence in Abuja, on Thursday.
Receiving the singer, the Deputy President of the Senate, described his joining of the APC as a welcome development.
“As a young and talented artist, Ali Jita will bring his experience and expertise to the party, which will pave the way for the development of the music and the entire Kennywood industry. I welcome you to the largest party. You are welcome on board,” he said.
Speaking, Ali Jita, who is also the Chairman of the the Kano Singers Association known as Murya Daya, described Senator Barau as a father figure.
“I was dragged to the Kwankwasiyya Movement by its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. But today, I have dropped my red cap; I am no longer in the red cap movement. I am now a full fledge member of the APC. I want to assure you that I will use all my ability and talent to contribute to this journey. This is my house now and APC is my party. We will work for it success going forward,” he said.
