DSS arrests kidnapper of Rarara’s mother, recovers N26.5m

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano have arrested one of the masterminds behind the kidnap of the mother of ace political singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara.

According to Daily Trust, a source in the Command said the operatives also killed one suspect in a covert operation and recovered in the process.

The source said the Kano command’s tactical team based on reliable intelligence busted a gang of five bandits in Makarfi bushes where they were sharing the ransom.

“One Hamisu Tukur, is currently in custody with gunshot injuries, while Bature was killed,” the source said.

Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu was kidnapped on June 28, 2024, from her residence in Kahutu village in Katsina.

Her kidnappers said to be suspected bandits stormed the village barefoot and operated for a few minutes. Upon their arrival in the village, the bandits went straight to the residence of the victim and picked only her, ignoring other people they met in the house.

The abductors who carried out the well-coordinated operation later contacted the family and demanded N900 million as ransom.

She however regained freedom after spending 20 days in captivity
