The Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Commision for Refugees Migrants and internally displaced persons NCFRMI, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim has felicitated with the internally displaced persons across the country and persons of concern on the celebration of easter.
The federal commissioner also used the occasion to extend similar gesture to the staffers of the commission on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In her message to mark the occasion, the federal Commissioner stressed that this year’s celebration is significant, particularly on the coincidence of the two holy months of Lenten season and Ramadan period.
She urged Nigerians to pray for the IDPs and other vulnerable groups, as well as render humanitarian and social assistance divinely propagated in the holy books.
Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim said government through the commission had made concerted efforts to ameliorate and bring to the barest minimum the hardship being faced by the IDPs, through provision of basic amenities and engagement outlets.
According to her, this was against the backdrop of proliferation of IDPs due to unending incidence unending incidence of insurgencies and natural disasters across the country.
“Inspite of all these, government is unrelenting in it’s efforts to sustain and bring on board new programs and policies that will mitigate the plight of the IDPs, while at the transit camps and preparatory to return to their permanent home”Imaan said”.
She therefore wished IDPs many more celebration with hope and confidence of normalcy and peaceful co-existence returning to their ancestral homes, that will guarantee their early return to their abodes.
