As Christians across the nation prepare to celebrate Easter, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has ordered the deployment of police personnel and operational assets to ensure the safety and security of lives and property during the festive period.
The Easter celebration, scheduled to hold from 18th to 21st April, 2025, will witness heightened security presence at all places of worship, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other public spaces, including critical infrastructures across the state.
The Commissioner issued the directive during a mid-week meeting held on Wednesday, 16th April, at the State Police Headquarters in Minna. Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were instructed to implement comprehensive security strategies, enhance visibility policing, and dominate public spaces to foster a secure environment for peaceful celebrations.
An operation order has already been circulated to all formations in the state for strict compliance.
CP Elleman, while felicitating with Christians and all residents of the state, commended the public for their continued support and cooperation with the Police. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious movements or incidents promptly to law enforcement authorities.
“As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remain united in the fight against crime. Together, we can create a safer and more peaceful society,” he stated.
The Commissioner also assured the public of the Command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security breach during the festivities.
