Easter: NUJ FCT Chair urges Journalists to uphold values of Sacrifice, Hope, and Integrity

As Christians around the world commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has extended Easter greetings to journalists and residents of the FCT, calling for deep reflection on the season’s core values sacrifice, hope, and renewal.
In a goodwill message to mark the Easter celebration, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, encouraged media professionals and Nigerians to draw inspiration from the enduring message of Easter, which she described as a powerful reminder of unwavering faith and the triumph of good over evil.
“This season reminds us that no matter the difficulties we face, there is always hope for a better tomorrow,The resurrection of Christ is a symbol of victory—of life over death. It challenges us all to rededicate ourselves to unity, resilience, and selflessness.”Comrade Ike stated.
She noted that journalists, as watchdogs of society, played a vital role in promoting truth, justice, and peace. Comrade Ike urged them to uphold the ethics of the profession, remain steadfast in their responsibilities, and contribute meaningfully to national development and cohesion.
“Even as we navigate through economic and social challenges as a nation, let this season inspire us to believe in a brighter future, made possible through collective effort and faith in God,” she added.
The NUJ FCT Chairman also emphasized the need for journalists to prioritize their safety while performing their duties. She reassured members of the Council’s commitment to their welfare and continuous professional development.
The Council,in a release signed by its Secretary, Jide Oyekunle, also wished all Christians a peaceful, joyful, and reflective Easter celebration.
