The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has extended warm felicitations to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, the Oba of Benin, and the entire Edo people on the occasion of the annual Igue Festival.
In a statement issued on Monday, Governor Okpebholo described the Igue Festival as a sacred period of thanksgiving to Almighty God for the peace and development witnessed in the Benin Kingdom.
He acknowledged the remarkable progress made by the Benin Kingdom and Edo State despite challenges, attributing the success to divine blessings and the leadership of the revered Oba.
“As a government, we remain steadfast in our commitment to partnering with His Royal Majesty for the continuous progress of Edo State,” the governor said. “The Benin heritage is not just a source of pride for our people but a global phenomenon and a great asset to our state.”
Governor Okpebholo also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to design policies and programs that would further enhance the development of Edo’s rich cultural heritage for the benefit of all citizens.
The governor concluded his message by praying for peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of Edo State, while also seeking divine wisdom and blessings for Oba Ewuare II.
