The Edo State Government has disassociated itself from recent statements made by Mr. John Mayaki, a former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor, Godwin Obaseki. In an official release signed by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, the government clarified that Mr. Mayaki’s remarks do not represent the views or positions of the current administration.
The statement emphasized that Mr. Mayaki’s personal opinions should not be misconstrued as those of Governor Okpebholo. “While Mr. Mayaki is entitled to his views as a citizen, they should not be attributed to the Governor or the Edo State Government,” the release stated.
The government reiterated that only communications from the officially appointed spokespersons of Governor Okpebholo should be considered as reflective of the administration’s stance. Citizens are encouraged to rely on verified channels for accurate information concerning the Governor and state policies.
This clarification was coming amid concerns over public confusion caused by Mr. Mayaki’s unauthorized statements, which have been circulating in the media. The Edo State Government’s position underscored the need for clear and accurate dissemination of information by trusted sources.
