The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, has joined the global community in celebrating the 2025 International Day of Education, emphasizing the transformative power of education in shaping a better future.
This year’s theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Agency in a World of Automation,” highlights the intersection of technology and education while underscoring the need to maintain human creativity and critical thinking in the face of increasing automation.
Mrs. Briggs praised education as a universal tool for empowerment, transcending borders and backgrounds, equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. She called for renewed commitment to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments in Edo State.
Highlighting the progress in the education sector under Governor Monday Okpebholo’s leadership, Briggs noted that the state has made significant strides in ensuring that every child has access to quality education. “Governor Okpebholo is committed to modernizing the school curriculum, constructing new schools, recruiting teachers, and providing the necessary infrastructure for conducive learning,” she said.
The SUBEB Chairman urged Edo residents to support the government’s efforts and reaffirm their dedication to making education accessible to all, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to realize their potential.
