The Federal Ministry of Education has received multiple accolades in recognition of its commitment to service delivery, accountability, and institutional excellence at the SERVICOM Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) Awards.
At the ceremony, the Ministry was honoured with a Special Recognition Award by the SERVICOM Office of the Presidency under the #SERVICOMWORKSHERE initiative. The award acknowledges the Ministry’s sustained efforts in bridging the gap between government and citizens through improved service delivery.
The Ministry also emerged as the second-best performing Ministerial SERVICOM Unit (MSU), alongside commendation for maintaining high service standards across its operations. In addition, it secured five awards in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), highlighting its effective deployment of digital tools to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
The awards were presented to the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, during the Second Management Meeting of the first quarter of 2026. The presentation was led by the Director of ICT, Mrs. Zainab Abubakar, alongside the Assistant Director in the Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement Department, Mr. Yiman Innocent.
Speaking at the meeting, Enitan reaffirmed the Ministry’s responsibility as a leading institution within the Federal Civil Service, stressing the need for strict adherence to its mandate and the maintenance of high professional standards.
He urged staff to prioritise accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism in official communication and administrative processes, noting that lapses could undermine the Ministry’s efficiency and public image.
The Permanent Secretary also emphasised the importance of proper planning and coordination in official engagements, calling on departments to improve responsiveness and ensure timely submission of information to support decision-making.
He further encouraged proactive execution of duties, stating that preventive measures and deliberate planning remain key to avoiding inefficiencies.
Reiterating the role of leadership, Enitan charged directors and departmental heads to strengthen internal processes within their units, warning that weaknesses at departmental levels could affect the overall performance of the Ministry.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service delivery, strengthening accountability, and sustaining high performance standards in line with its mandate.
