The Federal Ministry of Education has strongly refuted false claims circulating online regarding the cancellation of the 2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations, described them as misleading and entirely fabricated.
In a press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the Ministry categorically distanced itself from the misinformation and reassured the public of the credibility and orderly conduct of both examination bodies.
According to the statement, the 2025 WAEC examinations have been successfully concluded, with only a few isolated incidents of malpractice reported and promptly addressed by the relevant authorities. It further stated that the ongoing NECO examinations are progressing smoothly, with no reports of examination malpractice as of the date of the release.
The Ministry emphasized that it has not received any official communication or report from WAEC, NECO, or any other examination body indicating widespread malpractice in either examination.
It warned that individuals found spreading false information will be reported to the appropriate security agencies for investigation and prosecution.
