The Emir of Borgu, Niger State, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammed Sani Dantoro, has vowed to mobilize traditional rulers in Niger State to support the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in combating human trafficking and violence against persons.
During a courtesy visit to the Director General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, the Emir emphasized the need for heightened awareness and vigilance to curb the activities of traffickers. He pledged to use his influence to sensitize traditional institutions on the dangers of human trafficking and ensure a collective effort to protect vulnerable individuals.
Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing the NAPTIP Director General, the royal father advocated for stringent penalties against traffickers and urged Bello to build on her track record of performance to justify the nation’s trust in her leadership.
In response, Binta Adamu Bello appreciated the Emir’s support and reiterated her commitment to strengthening NAPTIP’s operations. She highlighted key achievements since assuming office, including increased prosecutions, intensified awareness campaigns, robust partnerships, strict policy enforcement, and the rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of victims.
She assured that under her leadership, NAPTIP would remain steadfast in its mission to combat human trafficking and safeguard the rights of Nigerians.
