The Federal Government, states, and local government councils shared a total of N2.225 trillion in August 2025, marking an 11.2 percent increase from the N2.001 trillion distributed in July, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) confirmed on Wednesday.
FAAC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, stated that the allocation, which included gross statutory revenue, Value Added Tax (VAT), Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and exchange differences, was distributed as follows:
Federal Government: N810.05 billion
States: N709.83 billion
Local Governments: N522.23 billion
Oil-producing states (13% derivation): N183.01 billion
A total of N124.84 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N1.28 trillion was allocated for transfers, interventions, and refunds.
Gross VAT revenue for August stood at N722.61 billion, up from N687.94 billion in July. After deductions for collection costs (N28.905 billion) and transfers, interventions, and refunds (N20.811 billion), N672.90 billion was distributed:
Federal Government: N100.93 billion
States: N336.45 billion
Local Governments: N235.51 billion
FAAC noted that while receipts from petroleum profit tax, import duty, companies’ income tax, excise duty, and EMTL declined, oil and gas royalties, VAT, and CET levies recorded significant increases.
