The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Miller G. Dantawaye, has commissioned two newly constructed police outposts in Abuja and laid the foundation for another in Lugbe as part of efforts to strengthen security and deepen community policing.
The outposts, located at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex in Lugbe and the National Judicial Institute along Airport Road, were commissioned on Wednesday. During the ceremony, the police chief also performed the foundation-laying for another outpost at T-Pumpy Estate in Lugbe.
The facilities were constructed and donated to the Nigeria Police Force by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Judicial Institute, and the management of T-Pumpy Estate to enhance police visibility and strengthen grassroots policing within their respective communities.
Speaking during the commissioning, Dantawaye expressed appreciation to the donors for their support and partnership with the police in improving security architecture within the FCT. He assured residents that the outposts would be effectively utilised to boost security coverage, improve response time to emergencies, and enhance the safety of residents and visitors in the affected areas.
The FCT police commissioner also charged officers deployed to the facilities to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He urged them to remain courteous and responsive to the public while building strong relationships with members of the communities they serve.
Residents were further encouraged to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the FCT Police Command through its designated emergency numbers.
