The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers allegedly involved in a series of violent crimes around nightclubs and recreational centres within the Abuja metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were arrested on Friday, January 17, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., following actionable intelligence that prompted the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, to order an immediate operation to dismantle the criminal gang.
Adeh said the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), DCP Aliyu Abubakar, subsequently deployed a discreet intelligence-led team led by the Commander of the Scorpion Squad, ACP Victor Godfrey. She explained that the operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout in Dakwa, Dei-Dei area of the FCT, where they were apprehended while allegedly planning another robbery attack.
Those arrested included Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu ‘M’ (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are linked to several armed robbery incidents across the FCT, including a recent robbery at Crystal Lounge in Wuse II, where a hotel guest was reportedly dispossessed of gold jewellery valued at about ₦15 million. Police said the items were later sold for ₦1.2 million.
Exhibits recovered during the operation include one black toy gun, local charms, long and short knives, as well as 42 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.
The suspects and recovered items are currently in police custody and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations, Adeh added.
Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police praised their professionalism and gallantry, while also appreciating members of the public for providing timely information that led to the successful operation.
