The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a massive crackdown on criminal elements across the Territory as part of renewed efforts to sustain the prevailing peace and security enjoyed by residents.
Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered all tactical and surveillance units under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), including operatives of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), to join forces with Divisional Police Formations in a comprehensive cleanup operation across Abuja.
The special operation, which kicked off in November 2025 and will run through January 2026, aims to identify, dislodge, and arrest all criminal elements hiding in the nooks and crannies of the FCT.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the CP directed that the exercise be conducted with intensity and consistency, focusing on identified black spots, criminal hideouts, and vulnerable communities.
Dantawaye charged all officers and men involved in the operation to discharge their duties professionally, warned that no act of misconduct or unprofessional behaviour would be tolerated. He stressed that personnel must uphold discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights throughout the assignment.
“The Command will not condone any form of abuse of power or unprofessionalism. Officers must take the assignment seriously and ensure that the FCT remains safe for all,” the CP stated.
He also called on residents to cooperate fully with police personnel and remain vigilant, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
