The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified proactive security operations with a special church patrol aimed at ensuring the safety of worship centres and residents during the ember months.
In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in a joint operation with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, embarked on a comprehensive patrol across forested and border communities linking Bwari–Kaduna State, Bwari–Niger State, and Gwagwalada–Niger State.
The operation, which lasted from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., was designed to strengthen community confidence, deter criminal activities, and guarantee that worshippers across the FCT can conduct religious services without fear of harassment or attacks.
During the patrol, security teams engaged with church leaders and reassured them of the Command’s commitment to their safety and that of their congregations. The clerics were also sensitized on proactive security measures, including minimizing late-night worship sessions, maintaining close communication with security agencies, and promptly reporting any suspicious persons or movements.
According to the FCT Police Command, the Commissioner has also directed the blocking of identified routes frequently used by criminal elements, as part of intelligence-led preventive measures. Strategic security posts within the forested areas have been reinforced and remain under constant supervision.
The Command reiterated that safety is a shared responsibility, urging residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious activities.
