The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a lineup of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, with a strong focus on community engagement and public trust.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” will feature a series of events designed to foster collaboration between the police and residents of the FCT.
According to the statement, activities will commence on Monday, March 30, with an environmental sanitation exercise across communities in Abuja. On the same day, the Command’s medical team will conduct a free medical outreach for vulnerable groups at Jabi Motor Park in Utako and behind Area 1 Shopping Complex in Garki.
The programme will continue on Tuesday, March 31, with a walkathon involving police personnel, aimed at promoting fitness and strengthening esprit de corps within the Force.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will carry out a public sensitization campaign across the FCT, focusing on electoral offences and safe driving practices as part of efforts to enhance public awareness and safety.
As part of welfare initiatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammad Sanusi, will on Thursday, April 2, present cheques to families of deceased officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, in recognition of their sacrifice and service to the nation.
The celebration will culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, April 7, with a ceremonial parade at Eagle Square, Abuja.
CP Sanusi called on residents of the FCT to actively participate in the events and take advantage of the free medical services, noting that the theme of the celebration highlights the need for collective responsibility in achieving effective policing.
The Command reiterated its commitment to strengthening community relations and ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
