The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a comprehensive lineup of activities to mark National Police Day 2026, with a focus on strengthening community engagement, promoting public safety awareness, and honouring fallen officers.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the week-long celebration will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, with a nationwide environmental sanitation exercise alongside a free medical outreach programme. The outreach, targeted particularly at vulnerable groups, will be held at Area 1, Abuja, starting at 7:00 a.m.
On Tuesday, March 31, a National Walkathon will take place across state capitals to foster unity and enhance police-community relations. In the FCT, participants are expected to converge at the Force Headquarters–Unity Fountain, with the Area Commander Metro, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other personnel in attendance.
The activities will continue on Wednesday, April 1, with a public sensitisation campaign at Area 1, focusing on the dangers of electoral violence and the importance of safe driving practices.
As part of efforts to honour officers who died in the line of duty, the Command will, on Thursday, April 2, present cheques to families of fallen heroes. The event will be held at the CP Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, and replicated across other state commands nationwide.
The celebration will climax on Tuesday, April 7, with a grand ceremonial parade at Eagle Square, Abuja, scheduled for 8:00 a.m. The parade will feature tactical displays by specialised units of the Nigeria Police Force, including the Police Mobile Force (PMF), K-9 Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), highlighting the Force’s operational readiness.
The FCT Police Command called on members of the public to actively participate in the events, noting that the initiative is aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
