The President of the Kwara All Stars Football Family, Hameed Idris (SMO), has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, following the historic triumph of Kwara United in the 2025 President Federation Cup.
The Harmony Boys, as Kwara United are fondly known, clinched their first-ever major trophy after a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory in Lagos, a feat described by many as monumental for the state’s football history.
In a statement made available to the media on Wednesday, Idris noted that the milestone transcends a mere sports victory. “This is not just a win for Kwara United or Kwara State; it is a testament to visionary leadership, strategic investment in youth and sports, and the passionate dedication of Coach Bola Mogaji,” he said.
He further acknowledged the pivotal role of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), in driving the development of sports in the state. “We are not just compelled to honour Coach Mogaji; we are also grateful to the Governor for his unwavering support and leadership,” Idris stated.
The Kwara All Stars President lauded the transformation under Coach Mogaji’s stewardship, recalling his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Sports Commission, which saw unprecedented achievements including the state’s outstanding performance at the last National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta.
Highlighting the Federation Cup victory, Idris emphasized its significance, noting that it not only broke a decades-long jinx but has also opened doors for Kwara United to compete in continental football under the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions.
He praised the state government’s facilitation of the long-overdue sign-on fee payment to the players, describing it as a morale booster and a demonstration of the government’s commitment to athletes’ welfare.
According to Idris, these accomplishments will no doubt serve as motivation for further investment and participation in sports across the state, ultimately fostering unity and development.
