The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed a widely circulated social media message alleging that schools across the country have been directed to close from November 24, 2025, describing it as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry clarified that no such directive was issued by the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or recognised security agency.
The ministry urged Nigerians to disregard the message, warned against the dangers of sharing unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic among students, parents, and school authorities.
According to the statement, the public should rely only on announcements released through official government communication channels, including those of the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, state governments, and authorised security agencies.
The ministry further advised Nigerians to verify the authenticity of information before sharing it, in order to curb the spread of misinformation on social media.
