The Federal Government has flagged off the 13th Cohort of the Mandatory Training Programme (MTP) for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Agencies and Parastatals, as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and accountability across the public service.
The programme, themed “Lead Boldly: Reform. Deliver. Renew,” is designed to promote integrity, strategic stewardship, and citizen-focused governance in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Representing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, a senior official described public service leadership as a sacred trust that demands total dedication to national progress.
He urged agency heads to ensure that their institutional goals are aligned with national priorities while upholding transparency, professionalism, and efficiency.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, highlighted the strategic relevance of the training, urging CEOs to act as champions of reform and public trust. She noted that the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda depend on visionary leaders capable of delivering measurable results and sustaining reform momentum.
Dr. Walson-Jack further called on participants to entrench results-based management systems and performance accountability frameworks within their organisations to drive efficiency and improve service delivery.
The Mandatory Training Programme is a flagship capacity-building initiative of the Federal Government, designed to equip public sector leaders with the competence, discipline, and innovation required to translate government priorities into tangible outcomes for citizens.
