Federal Government has commended the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for its critical contributions to disaster prevention and policy formulation in Nigeria.
The Honourable Minister of Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST), Chief Uche Geoffery Nnaji, made this assertion at a ministerial press briefing held yesterday at the NOTAB Conference Hall, Abuja.
Chief Nnaji stated “NASRDA’s data-driven approach has been invaluable in understanding the causes of the recent earth tremor in Mpape, Abuja,
“Their seismic stations provided critical data, enabling effective disaster prevention and policy formulation.”
At the event,NASRDA’s Director-General, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, presented a comprehensive report on the earth tremor, highlighting the agency’s findings and recommendations.
Dr. Adepoju explained in his report that the satellite imageries indicated a significant flood risk associated with the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon, he however assured that with necessary precautions and measures, the devastating effects can prevented.
The Ministerial press briefing was organized by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology in conjunction with NASRDA.
