The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has launched a groundbreaking initiative tagged EDUREVAMP Communities of Practice (CoPs) aimed at transforming teaching methods and enhancing collaboration among educators across Nigeria.
The launch, which also featured a capacity-building workshop for 80 selected teachers and Ministry officials, was held in Abuja on Monday, July 21, 2025. It marked a significant step in the Ministry’s efforts to improve the quality of education delivery and learning outcomes nationwide.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, described the CoPs initiative as a major milestone in building strong, connected, and digitally-empowered professional learning communities.
“This is more than just an event it’s a collective leap towards sustainable teacher development,” she stated.
Prof. Ahmad, who drew from her personal experience as a classroom teacher, emphasized the importance of collaborative innovation and efficient resource use in the education sector. She explained that trained CoP administrators will support teachers through digital learning modules, helping to foster peer-led development and classroom impact.
The initiative also paves the way for the upcoming EDUREVAMP digital platform, which will equip teachers with 21st-century teaching skills, track professional growth, and reward excellence.
“Every completed module isn’t just a win for your classroom—it could be a personal win too,” the Minister added.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Zainab Abubakar Suleiman, Director of ICT at the Ministry, praised the Minister’s leadership and described the CoPs as a timely response to the need for connected teacher networks in Nigeria’s evolving education landscape.
A keynote address by Prof. Tajuddeen Mustapha underscored the relevance of STEM-based collaboration and teacher capacity building in improving education outcomes.
With the launch of EDUREVAMP CoPs, the Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s education sector through digital tools, professional development, and strategic collaboration.
