In a collaborative effort to strengthen Nigeria’s development planning, the Federal Government, in partnership with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), conducted a five-day training on the Integrated Planning and Reporting Toolkit (IPRT) from December 9–13, 2024. The initiative aims to align Nigeria’s National Development Plan (NDP) with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Key stakeholders, including UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Mohamed M. Fall and representatives from the Ministry of Budget and Planning, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), and AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, highlighted the IPRT’s transformative role in digitalizing planning, improving reporting, and fostering real-time monitoring of development goals. The training also addressed challenges such as data accessibility, capacity gaps, and the integration of development strategies with financial planning.
This innovative approach reflected Nigeria’s leadership in sustainable development, positioning the country to tackle climate change, post-COVID-19 recovery, and governance challenges while setting an example for capacity-building across Africa.
