The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic and citizen-level relations with the Republic of Ghana.
This was made known by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, during a two-day official visit to the West African nation.
The visit, according to the Ministry, is aimed at addressing issues concerning Nigeria-Ghana bilateral relations and engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and protection of Nigerians residing in Ghana, as well as their properties and businesses.
Shortly after her arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, on Tuesday evening, the Minister had a brief interface with the Inspector General of Police, Ghana, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who was on his way to London.
On Wednesday, Odumegwu-Ojukwu continued her engagements with senior Ghanaian officials, traditional rulers, and leaders of the Nigerian community in Ghana.
She is expected to return to Abuja on Thursday.
Her visit come amid renewed concerns over the welfare of Nigerians living in Ghana and efforts to strengthen cooperation between both countries at diplomatic and grassroots levels.
