President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a comprehensive plan to launch massive value re-orientation programmes across the country in 2025, aimed at promoting shared national values and beliefs under the National Identity project.
In his New Year message to Nigerians, the President outlined his commitment to unveiling the National Values Charter, which has already been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The Charter, he said, would be launched in the first quarter of 2025 as part of efforts to strengthen citizens’ allegiance to the nation and foster unity.
The National Identity project, spearheaded by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), included a series of policies designed to instill patriotism, ethical principles, and national pride among Nigerians. The seven institutionalisation policies are intended to promote citizens’ moral integrity, deepening their connection to the nation’s values, character, and national symbols.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of citizens’ support in the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that national development could only be achieved through shared values, a collective identity, and unwavering love for the country.
“I will unveil the National Values Charter, already approved by the Federal Executive Council, in the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, we will launch a national orientation campaign to foster patriotism and inspire Nigerians to rally together in mutual commitment to our nation,” President Tinubu said.
The President also announced plans to convene a national youth conference within the next three months, underscoring the crucial role of the youth in shaping the nation’s future. Relevant government agencies have been instructed to begin preparations for the conference.
