The Federal Government has announced that 2.2 million poor and vulnerable households will benefit from conditional cash transfers before the end of August.
Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Tanko Sununu, disclosed this on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
He revealed that the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) is currently extracting names from the National Social Register to guarantee transparency and fairness in the process.
“In the next few days to come, before the end of August, we are going to reach out to 2.2 million households,” Sununu said.
According to him, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to mitigate the impact of economic hardship on vulnerable Nigerians.
