The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have commended the Federal Government’s commitment of $538 million for the first phase of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme, describing it as a major step towards achieving food security and job creation in Nigeria.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group noted that the initiative is designed to transform the agricultural landscape of the country through a youth-driven 10-year strategic action plan.
“The SAPZ is a flagship initiative of the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the sole aim of making food abundant and providing jobs for the teeming Nigerian youths,” the statement read.
“It will also boost agricultural productivity, improve rural livelihoods, and accelerate agro-industrialisation. We see this initiative as a well-thought-out programme, especially with food security and job creation at the core of its implementation,” the group added.
TMV said the SAPZ initiative is a dual-solution strategy that simultaneously tackles food insecurity and youth unemployment.
The group further stated that the programme aligned with global efforts championed by the United Nations to unlock finance and investment in food systems transformation, thereby contributing to sustainable development and economic resilience.
