The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended the Federal Government’s introduction of monthly revenue dashboards designed to enhance transparency in income allocation and expenditure across the three tiers of government.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly curb corruption and strengthen fiscal accountability.
The group noted that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Finance, adopted the dashboard framework to monitor and track increased revenues expected to accrue to federal, state and local governments. This follows the presidential executive order freeing additional oil revenues from NNPC Ltd, alongside anticipated earnings from the implementation of the new tax regime.
According to the statement, the initiative aligns with the position of the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, that improved government revenues would translate into more productive capital deployment.
TMV further expressed optimism that the three tiers of government would prioritise capital expenditure over recurrent spending, particularly in critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, energy and other productive areas capable of stimulating economic growth and reducing consumption-driven pressures in the economy.
The group added that increased revenues could help reduce debt burdens, enable governments to clear outstanding arrears and support growth-enhancing sectors nationwide.
It also expressed confidence that the revenue dashboards would promote transparency in public finance management and empower Nigerians to hold public officials accountable for the utilisation of national resources.
