The Nigeria Police Force has officially wrapped up the highly anticipated 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) “Asaba 2026,” held at the iconic Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State. The week-long event showcased exceptional athletic talent, fostered institutional unity, and reinforced discipline among officers from Commands and Formations across the country.
In a closing remarks,Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,hailed the Games as a landmark moment for the Force. “What started as a simple gathering has evolved into a profound display of unity, resilience, and collective purpose,” he said. Highlighting the event’s theme, “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action,” the IGP emphasized how the spirit of competition and mutual respect on the field directly enhances operational readiness and improved service delivery to the Nigerian public.
The closing ceremony, presided over by Delta State Deputy Governor Sir Monday John Onyeme, featured thrilling finales including the football matches, frisbee demonstrations, tug-of-war showdowns, 4x100m relay races, invitational events with sister security agencies, and a vibrant closing concert.
In a strong showing of supremacy, Force Headquarters topped the overall medal table, emerging as the undisputed champions. Zone 2 (Lagos) secured second place, while Zone 9 claimed the third position, rounding out a competitive podium that reflected intense rivalry and high-level performance throughout the Games.
Deputy Governor Onyeme praised the Nigeria Police Force for embodying discipline, dignity, and dedication far beyond their professional roles. He reiterated Delta State’s ongoing support for sports initiatives as tools for promoting unity, youth empowerment, and national development.
The successful hosting of BIPOGA Asaba 2026 underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to holistic officer welfare, physical fitness, and team cohesion qualities that will now be channeled into enhanced nationwide policing efforts.
