Public affairs analyst and legal practitioner, Mr. Frank Tietie, has denied claims that he petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing the allegation as false and malicious.
In a statement titled “Disclaimer and Clarification”, Tietie said he has never opposed the FCT Minister nor written any petition to the President seeking Wike’s removal from office. He described a report circulating online that made such claims as a deliberate attempt to misrepresent his public commentary and weaponise it against the minister.
According to him, his interventions in public discourse are guided strictly by facts, objectivity and his professional background in law. While noting that no public office holder is above constructive criticism in a democratic setting, Tietie acknowledged that the FCT Minister has demonstrated notable political strengths, including resilience, innovation in political survival and what he described as an unprecedented commitment to project delivery and infrastructural development in the Federal Capital Territory.
Tietie warned against the misuse of his analyses to advance what he called a “cheap political agenda” aimed at pressuring President Tinubu to sack the FCT Minister, stressed that he is not associated with such efforts and completely dissociates himself from them.
He further placed the public on notice that he would not hesitate to petition the Nigeria Police Force to investigate and prosecute individuals and platforms involved in the alleged fabrication and circulation of the false claim that he authored or submitted a petition against the FCT Minister.
Tietie concluded by calling for truth, fairness and responsible journalism to prevail over mischief and sponsored disinformation.
