A potential disaster was averted on Sunday morning in Kaduna following the swift intervention of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) after a loaded fuel tanker crashed at NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way.
The incident, which occurred at about 7:15 a.m. on February 8, 2026, involved a lone tanker that fell on the roadway, raising fears of a possible fire outbreak and secondary accidents in the busy area.
According to the FRSC Kaduna State Sector Command, a distress call was received shortly after the crash, prompting the immediate deployment of a rescue team from RS1.1 Kaduna, led by Deputy Route Commander, I. Gunda.
On arrival at the scene, FRSC personnel secured the area by shutting down all access roads leading to the crashed tanker to prevent further accidents and contain any potential danger. Traffic was diverted to alternative routes to ensure continued vehicular movement and reduce congestion within the metropolis.
Personnel of the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force were also mobilised to the scene and are working alongside the FRSC to safeguard the public while efforts continue to evacuate the fuel content and remove the tanker from the road.
No casualty was recorded as at the time of this report.
The FRSC commended motorists for their cooperation and urged road users to remain calm, obey traffic instructions, and exercise patience as recovery operations progress.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to prompt emergency response, efficient traffic management, and the protection of lives and property on Nigerian roads.
