The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has taken a step forward in promoting staff well-being with the commissioning of a new table tennis court at its Road Safety Headquarters in Abuja. The facility was officially opened on Tuesday, 16 March 2026, by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
The initiative is part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to foster a healthy, productive, and motivated workforce. Speaking at the event, the Corps Marshal described the table tennis court as more than just a recreational space, emphasizing that it represents a strategic investment in the physical and mental health of FRSC personnel.
Felicia Kalu, Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, in a release,noted that the commissioning of the facility aligned with the Corps’ policy on staff welfare and sports development. She highlighted that table tennis is not only a fun activity but also enhances mental alertness, discipline, and reflex coordination, while fostering staff bonding and team spirit.
Highlighting the vision behind the project, Mohammed said the initiative aims to nurture talent and produce world-class athletes, building on the Corps’ existing achievements in sports such as handball and badminton. He added that a conducive environment for sporting activities would boost morale and encourage personnel to channel their energy into productive and healthy pursuits.
The Corps Marshal charged all users to take ownership of the facility, ensure its proper maintenance, and uphold the values of discipline and sportsmanship. He described the commissioning as a milestone in the Corps’ ongoing drive to enhance staff welfare and institutional development.
