The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has initiated a comprehensive internal reform programme aimed at strengthening discipline, professionalism, and service delivery across all commands of the Corps nationwide.
According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the reform directive mandated the immediate deployment of the Corps Management Team to field commands across the country for a structured retreat and reorientation exercise designed to recalibrate operational standards and enhance productivity within the organisation.
Ogungbemide explained that the engagement will also address concerns relating to incivility and unprofessional conduct toward members of the public, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to restoring and sustaining public confidence.
The Corps Marshal stressed that the FRSC would not tolerate any conduct capable of undermining public trust or compromising its statutory responsibilities, warning that strict disciplinary measures would be applied against erring personnel.
The nationwide exercise will focus on strengthening ethical compliance, improving supervisory accountability, standardising enforcement procedures, and promoting a citizen-centred approach to operations. Commanding Officers have also been directed to institutionalise renewed performance benchmarks and ensure strict adherence to the Corps’ code of conduct at all levels.
As part of the initiative, members of the Management Team will engage directly with stakeholders and the public to obtain feedback on operational conduct and service delivery, with the aim of improving transparency and responsiveness.
The FRSC leadership described the reform as a strategic step toward reinforcing accountability and continuous institutional improvement. Personnel found guilty of misconduct, abuse of authority, or actions capable of bringing the Corps into disrepute, the statement noted, would face immediate disciplinary action in line with established regulations.
Reiterating the Corps’ mandate, the Corps Marshal affirmed that the FRSC remains committed to delivering professional, humane, and efficient road safety services to Nigerians, adding that the reform initiative represents a decisive effort to consolidate discipline within the ranks while strengthening public confidence in the agency.
