On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the Foursquare Gospel Church in Abuja became a beacon of hope and renewal as congregants gathered to embrace the new year with Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu’s inspiring sermon, “Grant Us Strength and Peace.”
Dr. Idowu’s messages are known for their profound insights and compassionate delivery, and this sermon was no exception, continuing his dynamic series exploring spiritual resilience and divine peace.
The ambiance was electric, filled with the harmonious voices of the church choir that set the stage for a message poised to uplift and empower.
Rev. Idowu’s sermon focused on fortifying one’s spirit through biblical wisdom, grounding his teachings in scripture passages like Isaiah 40:28-31, Psalms 29:10-11, and John 16:32-33.
These passages served as cornerstones for imparting a deeper understanding of spiritual strength and the tranquility offered by faith.
The theme, “Strengthen us and give peace,” underscores the sermon’s exploration of the divine promise that God provides fortitude to overcome life’s trials.
Drawing from John 16:32-33, Rev. Idowu recounted the story of the Hebrew men in the fiery furnace, illustrating God’s supernatural intervention as a metaphor for divine protection and peace.
A pivotal aspect of the sermon was understanding “PEACE,” delving into Philippians 4:6-7 and highlighting how peace transcends human comprehension.
It is through prayer and supplication that believers can access this divine serenity. Quoting Jesus’ directive to “be of good cheer,” Rev. Idowu emphasized that peace stabilizes our hearts and minds, akin to the calming of the storm by Jesus in Mark 4.
He further explained that peace manifests through Christ’s teachings, as stated in John 16:33, and through reconciliation with God as noted in Colossians 1:19-21.
By embracing the peace offered by the cross, believers can find assurance that all things will work for their good.
The service culminated in a heartfelt prayer session, where Rev. Idowu invoked divine peace and strength upon the congregation.
