The Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Oliver Okpala, has dismissed recent comments by elder statesman and politician, Alhaji Buba Galadima, describing them as baseless and ridiculous.
Galadima had in a recent interview alleged that Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman and former Governor of Kano State, lacked electoral value a statement Chief Okpala described as laughable and untrue.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, Okpala said Galadima’s remarks were characteristic of a “failed, rejected, and frustrated politician without any base in Nigeria.”
“His past political record of mercantilism, political duplicity and incompetence clearly shows he has no space of existence in the current political landscape in the country,” he stated.
Chief Okpala questioned how Galadima could discredit the political relevance of a two-term governor of Kano State one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states and a leader currently steering the affairs of Africa’s largest political party.
“Ganduje is a grassroots politician with results to show. Where are Galadima’s results? He is a barren, outdated politician who has outlived his usefulness,” he said.
The APC chieftain also claimed that Galadima’s longstanding reputation for political inconsistency and betrayal led to his falling out with former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He further accused Galadima’s New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) of suffering internal crises, unlike the APC which, under Ganduje’s leadership, he said, “is sailing smoothly and waxing stronger.”
“Ganduje is not a political lilliputian like Galadima. He will not be distracted by someone who has destroyed many political projects he has been a part of,” Okpala added.
He concluded that Ganduje remained “a political star” in Nigeria’s democratic journey, commanding respect within the APC and among Nigerians at large.
