The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has called on media practitioners to ensure accurate, balanced, and objective reportage on matters of national interest.

The charge came during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of 6 Division, Port Harcourt Barracks, by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Micheal Enenche Onoja, and his team.
Major General Emekah commended the Chief of Defence Staff for the initiative that allowed journalists to witness firsthand the activities of the Armed Forces across various operational theatres. He emphasized that the military welcomes constructive criticism in areas needing improvement.
The GOC highlighted the importance of the Ministry of Defence employing qualified media professionals to effectively communicate military operations. “Accurate and objective reportage not only strengthens public trust but also enhances national security efforts,” he said.
He also disclosed that one of the core objectives of the 6 Division is the protection of the nation’s critical infrastructure, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
