In a bid to enhance primary healthcare delivery across Niger State, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration has intensified efforts to improve local health facilities, marked by the first official field visit of the Executive Director of the Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA), Dr. Inuwa Junaidu, to Yusuf Dada Primary Health Care (PHC), Yidna, Paikoro Local Government Area.
The visit aimed to address community concerns, ensure improved healthcare service delivery, and reinforce the administration’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare systems.
During the inspection, Dr. Junaidu urged health workers to remain committed and proactive, particularly as the state rolls out its Level 2 intervention in phases. He noted that the initiative reflects the strong commitment of Gov. Bago and Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Bagana, to saving lives and improving healthcare at the grassroots level.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Hajia Jamila Hassan, Village Head of Yidna, commended the government for its swift intervention, describing it as a demonstration that the welfare of residents is a top priority. Hon. Aminu Ishaku, Supervisory Councillor for Health, Paikoro, also praised the decisive leadership, adding that the action underscores the administration’s determination to elevate primary healthcare service delivery.
As part of the visit, Dr. Junaidu met with officials at the Paikoro Local Government Secretariat, where discussions focused on facility repositioning, stakeholder engagement, and exploring direct labour options to ensure timely renovation of the PHC. The Council Secretary described the Governor’s intervention as timely and commended the Executive Director’s practical recommendations.
Dr. Junaidu said the visit demonstrates his commitment to hands-on leadership and stakeholder engagement, in line with the New Niger Agenda of Gov. Bago’s administration.
