As part of efforts to address the challenges of insecurity bedeviling some parts of Taraba state, Taraba state Governor, Darius Ishaku has inaugurated Seven Third Class Traditional Rulers to facilitate the return of peace in affected communities of the state.
At an event to present Staff of Office to the traditional rulers, the Governor warned the new traditional rulers that he will henceforth not tolerate any attempt to sabotage his administration peace building efforts by harbouring criminal elements, land grabbers and allowing illegal mining activities in their domains.
Justice Emmanuel Dodo, a former Supreme Court Judge also emerged as one of the seven Third Class Chiefs presented with staff of office.
With over 80 tribes and 68 chiefdoms across 168 wards of Taraba State, the government said reforming the traditional institution to meet its demand for peaceful coexistence remained a necessity, especially with the vacuum created as a result of the demise of some Traditional Rulers.
While the Traditional Rulers are in agreement as they pledged their support for the peace building efforts of the state government, it is also expected that their subjects will give the needed support for the overall development oF the state.
