Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commissioned 56 Toyota Hiace buses for Edoline Transport Services, alongside 38 Toyota Hilux vans and 16 Prado Jeeps for security agencies in the state. The commissioning mark a significant step in his administration’s commitment to improving public transportation and enhancing security.
The event, held in Benin City, was attended by top government officials, including Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon Dennis Idahosa; Minister of Works, Dave Umahi; former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Oshiomole; Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor; Chief of Staff, Gani Audu; as well as heads of security agencies.
Speaking at the event, Senator Oshiomole praised Governor Okpebholo’s efforts within his first 100 days in office, stating that he had achieved what previous administrations could not.
“I tried to revive Edoline Transport Services but couldn’t. What the Governor has done is remarkable. The spirit of late Samuel Ogbemudia, who established Edoline, will be smiling in heaven knowing that his legacy is being revived,” Oshiomole said.
He further commended the Governor for equipping security agencies with operational vehicles, emphasizing that criminals are mobile and security forces must have the mobility to counter crime effectively.
The Edo State Police Commissioner, Betty Enekpen Isokpen Otimenyin, also expressed appreciation for the Governor’s support, noting that the security vehicles would enhance “Operation Rescue,” a new initiative to tackle criminal activities across Edo’s three senatorial districts.
Governor Okpebholo assured Edo residents that his administration remains committed to delivering on its campaign promises, adding that before the end of February, an additional 44 buses will be delivered to strengthen the state’s transport sector.
