Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents of Edo Central Senatorial District of quality infrastructure delivery as he inspected the ongoing 36-kilometer Utako-Unewa-Eworah-Uromi road project.
The Governor, accompanied by top government officials, received cheers and prayers from residents who expressed gratitude that the long-abandoned project was finally receiving attention.
During the inspection, Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s commitment to “practical governance,” ensuring that citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy through visible and impactful projects.
“You can see the joy on the faces of the people. We are happy that those we are serving appreciate our efforts, and we will do more to develop the area and the state,” he said. “When this road is completed, it will open up the area for economic development and growth. We want the people to feel the impact of true governance.”
In addition to the road project, the Governor also inspected the Anko Road and Udomi Primary School, both of which are at different stages of completion.
A resident, Madam Alice Ojeifoh, expressed excitement over the project, noting that the road had been neglected for years. “The Okpebholo administration has remembered us. This road will bring economic growth and development to our communities,” she said.
Similarly, Larha Fanel, a resident originally from Benue State, commended the Governor for prioritizing infrastructure, saying that the road would ease movement and enhance trade in the area.
The contractor handling the project, Michael Rezk, disclosed that the road will connect eight communities and is expected to be completed within two years.
“The road is 36 kilometers, starting from the federal road in Uromi. We have commenced work on the concrete drains to collect water from the main road, and progress has been made with laterite. Soon, we will move to the stone base and asphalt stages,” Rezk explained.
The project is part of the administration’s broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance economic opportunities across Edo State.
