Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of General Jeremiah Useni (retd), a former military administrator of the defunct Bendel State, described his demise as a significant loss to the people and government of Edo State.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Friday, January 24, 2025, Governor Okpebholo lauded the late General Useni for his exceptional service and unwavering dedication to Bendel State, now Edo and Delta States.
“General Useni was a true statesman who championed education reforms, oversaw the development of critical infrastructure, and was a tireless advocate for justice,” the statement read.
The Governor further noted that during his tenure, the late Army General steered the state through challenging times, laying a strong foundation for its future prosperity while inspiring a new generation of public servants.
“His kind spirit, optimism, and commitment to public service will remain etched in the hearts of the people of Edo and Delta States,” Governor Okpebholo added.
On behalf of the government and people of Edo State, the governor extended his heartfelt condolences to General Useni’s family, friends, and loved ones, urging them to find solace in his legacy of selfless service and impactful leadership.
General Jeremiah Useni, who served as the military administrator of Bendel State during a pivotal era, is remembered for his visionary leadership and contributions to the development of the region.
