Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a directive to contractors handling the rehabilitation of failed sections of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway to expedite work and ensure completion before the rainy season begins.
The governor gave the marching orders while inspecting various sections of the road during a stopover en route to Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area. The Edo State Government is overseeing the ongoing palliative works on the highway.
Governor Okpebholo, accompanied by his entourage, visited critical points, including Ugha, Ehor, Ihie, Utene, Igieduma, Okemuen, Power Line off Ukhun road in Eguare Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Idumebo, and Okpoji junction. At each site, he interacted with contractors, inquired about challenges, and urged them to adhere strictly to contractual standards.
Residents in affected areas praised the governor for addressing their plight, particularly at Power Line in Eguare Ekpoma, where the road had been completely cut off.
Speaking at the site, Mr. Christian Obi, a student at Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma, expressed gratitude to the governor for restoring access and alleviating the community’s hardship.
Similarly, at Okpoji junction in Ekpoma, a large crowd welcomed Governor Okpebholo and lauded his administration for its commitment to infrastructure development. Mrs. Margaret Agbonzele, a resident, described the repairs as a relief, added that her support for the governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) was justified by the dividends of democracy delivered so far.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the state’s road network and ensuring the timely delivery of ongoing projects to enhance the quality of life for Edo residents.
