Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to overhaul the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) to enhance its competitiveness with global media outlets. During an unscheduled visit to the station, Governor Okpebholo identified key challenges faced by EBS, including power supply issues, deteriorating infrastructure, and inadequate studio facilities.
The Governor assured staff that his administration would explore alternatives such as solar energy or new generators to ensure the station operates seamlessly 24/7.
“I have seen the challenges facing the station, and we will address them. This is Edo State’s property, and it must function at its best,” Okpebholo stated.
He encouraged EBS staff to be bold in offering constructive criticism, reinforcing that his administration is committed to serving the people of Edo.
Accompanied by top government officials, the Governor also inspected ongoing road projects across Benin City, including works on Upper Mission Extension by Aduwawa Junction, Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway, and Upper Ekenwan Road. The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress of these projects and emphasized the importance of completing them before the rainy season.
“I am very pleased with the work so far. I believe the roads will be ready for use before Christmas, as the contractors are doing their best to ensure completion,” Governor Okpebholo remarked.
