Gov Okpebholo pledges to replicate Akpabio’s developmental model in Edo State

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced his commitment to replicating the transformational achievements of Senator Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State to drive similar growth and development in Edo State.

Governor Okpebholo made this pledge on Saturday night during a reception held in his honour in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. The Governor lauded Akpabio’s landmark accomplishments during his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom from 2007 to 2015, which repositioned the state as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant and beautiful.

Describing Akpabio as “the uncommon man,” Okpebholo praised his transformation of Akwa Ibom, particularly Uyo, into a model for urban and infrastructural development.

“The history of Akwa Ibom cannot be written without mentioning Akpabio’s transformation magic,” Okpebholo said. “Before he came, Akwa Ibom was a state many had written off. But within eight years, he achieved so much that today, Uyo stands as one of the finest cities in the country.

“When I became Governor, I decided to visit Akwa Ibom to see and learn from these achievements. I am more convinced than ever that Edo can achieve the same level of progress. Akpabio did it here, and we will do it in Edo.”

Governor Okpebholo also commended Akpabio for his leadership in the National Assembly, crediting him with significant legislative accomplishments within a short period.

“What Akpabio has done as Senate President is remarkable. He has accomplished in one year what others could not in eight years. His ability to unite and lead the Senate is exemplary.”he stated

In response, Senator Akpabio praised Governor Okpebholo’s humility and determination to learn from successful leaders, describing it as a hallmark of great governance.

The visit, Governor Okpebholo said, reaffirmed his resolve to implement people-centered policies that would transform Edo State, just as Akpabio’s leadership redefined Akwa Ibom
