The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, announced the indefinite suspension of all state revenue collections, particularly from motor parks and other designated areas, with immediate effect.
In a statement released on Wednesday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo, disclosed that anyone found collecting revenue on behalf of the state government would face immediate arrest.
He also assured that a review of the state’s revenue collection processes would be conducted soon, to determine the next course of action.
The statement read, “The Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who flouts this directive and collects any form of revenue on behalf of the State Government.
“The Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised and issue new directives. Until then, no one is authorised to collect revenues on behalf of the State Government”.
