Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has sworn-in two High Court Judges and two Khadis of Shariah Court of Appeal described it as a well deserved appointments.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Council Chamber, Government House, Minna.
Governor Sani Bello while congratulating the new Judges, reminded them of the huge task ahead of them.
“While I congratulate you I must also draw your attention to the huge task of your assignment. You need to know the weight of the assignment and I hope this will be of benefit to the state and the country”, he cautioned.
The Governor acknowledged the inadequate number of Judges in the State which he said was not healthy.
He expressed hope that their would be improvement.
“We have always had a limited number of judges, I understand some of our Judges are overwhelmed which is not healthy. Hopefully, we will get more to reduce the workload” he said.
He commended the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik for her efforts at ensuring the appointments of the Judges.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn Judges and Khadis, Justice Aisha Wodu Bawa assured that they will continue to do their best in serving the course of justice, emphasising that dedication, hard work and patience pays.
She appreciated the Governor, the Chief Judge of the state and the entire judiciary for their contributions, interest and commitment to the judicial system of the state.
Justice Aishatu Wodu Bawa who was born on 10th October, 1965 in Kutigi in Lavun Local Government, started her journey in the Judiciary in 1995 when she was appointed as Associate Magistrate where she excelled and rose through various positions.
While Justice Isaac Ndagana Jiya was born in 1983 in Gbako Local Government Area of the state with work experience in various organisations including the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) where he held the position of Assistant Chief Superintendent from 2009 to his recent appointment.
Khadi Shehu Yunusa was born on the 25th September, 1966 in Agaie, while Khadi Mohammed Isah Dalibi was born on the 16th 9f February, 1974 in Kontagora.
They held various positions in the state Judiciary before their recent elevations.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of official vehicles to the new High Court Judges and Khadis of Shariah Court of Appeal by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello
